Lessons from the community: Representatives from different helping professions have visited Mansfield Elementary School's pre-k classes recently as part of lessons on community helpers.

Classes recently met with Bobby Fincher of Snapping Shoals EMC, who came to the school and demonstrated the work of a lineman. He discussed the storm and power outages that took place around the area, demonstrated how the bucket truck operates and discussed how linemen help to restore power to the community.

Other classroom visitors include a nurse, a dental hygienist and a K-9 deputy from the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
The students also visited a fire station and a post office.
