Some students in Newton County schools may be eligible for free tutoring.

One of the provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance Act is that students who are enrolled in a Title I "Needs Improvement" school may apply for Supplemental Educational Services (SES).

Eligible students are offered the opportunity to receive tutorial services from an outside provider free of charge.
A SES parent informational meeting and provider fair will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Middle Ridge Elementary School. The deadline to request SES is Dec. 8. Those interested should attend the meeting for more information or contact Stephanie Hart, Federal Programs Instructional Specialist for the Newton County School System at (770) 787-1300 ext. 1288.

Parents who have already applied need not reapply or attend the SES parent informational meeting.
