Newton County FFA Teams were very successful in competing at this year’s Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia. The Newton County Beef Show Team won Second Place Beef Livestock Herdsman Award for its division and Newton High School received Honorable Mention for its Chapter Forestry Display.

Newton High School students exhibited projects ranging from beef livestock, floral designs, landscape plans, horticulture research, plant materials, forestry display, and plant identification. Alcovy and Eastside students exhibited beef livestock projects.

"We had very good representation from Newton County at the Georgia National Fair. I am very pleased with the way that students placed," stated Ben Brand. "It was good to see the different number of projects from the county. The cattle and the horticulture projects did very well. We are very excited to see the number of students that have the caliber to have this type of work at the Georgia National Fair," Ryan Talton said. The cattle show was held at the fairgrounds Oct. 7 through Oct. 10.
