Dr. Linda Hayden, Newton County School System's Associate Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment, has announced her plans to retire the end of June.
Hayden has been in public education for more than 30 years, four of those in Newton County.
"Dr. Hayden is a most dedicated educator who has worked on behalf of children and their learning over a 30-year career," said Superintendent Dr. Gary Mathews. "I know first-hand her desire for even greater student achievement in Newton County. She will be missed. Going forward, we will consider a reorganization of the curriculum department that may or may not retain an associate superintendent's position. We'll see."
