Bikes for academic improvement: At the Awards Program at Palmer-Stone Elementary School on May 27, the Oxford Lions Club awarded six bicycles to the third, fourth and fifth grade boys and girls who had shown the most improvement during the past academic school year. The Covington Pilot Club provided safety helmets to go along with the bicycles. Both civic organizations are Partners in Education with Palmer-Stone. Other partners, McDonald’s and Dr. Pepper, provided a customized bicycle for Ian Kreiger who had shown outstanding progress in the Accelerated Reading Program.
