The Eastside High School counseling department has partnered with Covington First United Methodist Church to provide eight field trips for seniors to Georgia colleges.

The program is called "College Van Plan" and the "Technical Trail." The first visit will be on Sept. 30 to the University of Georgia in Athens. For a $2 fee, seniors may choose one trip, and the visits are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Other visits are planned to Georgia Tech, Georgia College and State University, North Georgia College, West Georgia College, Athens Tech, DeKalb Tech and Georgia Perimeter College. Parent permission is required.

There are also four parent workshops on the calendar this year for seniors and their families: a program titled College Language on Tuesday with Chris Rodriguez of Mercer University; a session Oct. 14 on college costs and sessions Nov. 9 and Jan. 25 on financial aid with Georgia Student Finance Commission.
