Annual Back 2 School Block Party changed
Placeholder Image

After some restructuring, the annual Back 2 School Block Party will now fall under the Newton County Sheriff's Office as a school supply exclusive event, with the resource fair portion of it being lumped in with the annual Literacy Festival in September.

Now named the Back 2 School - School Supply Distribution will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 15. During that time, age-appropriate supplies will be given out at Newton, Eastside and Alcovy high schools.

The NCSO is searching for sponsors and donors who can contribute cash that will go toward the purchase of school supplies. Sponsors can do so at platinum ($2,500), gold ($1,000), bronze ($500) and silver ($250) levels and their names and levels will be included on banners at each distribution site.

Checks can be made payable to the Washington Street Community Center. Volunteers are also sought to help prepare packets, set up locations and distribute supplies on the day of the event. For more information, contact Corporal Wade Freeman at (678) 625-1445.
