The Covington Police Department (CPD) responded March 28 to a report of vehicles being broken into in the parking lot at the Hampton Inn at 14460 Paras Drive. In one break-in, a gun was stolen.

According to the report, the responding officer observed the rear electric window broken out of a black, 2016 Ford F150 Supercrew pick-up truck. The officer checked the tag on the vehicle and located the owner.

The truck’s owner reportedly told police that his Glock 27 handgun had been taken from the center console of the truck. Nothing else was reported missing.

In another incident, the owner of a black 2016 Chevy Silverado from South Carolina reportedly told police that someone broke the window of his camper shell, went into the back of his truck and rummaged through his tools and cases. The passenger side window of the truck was also reportedly broken out and the person went through the interior of the truck.

According to the report, the person also located the keys to a trailer attached to the truck and opened and rummaged through it. An attempt to steal the trailer was reportedly unsuccessful because the trailer was too heavy. The truck’s owner did not notice anything missing.
