Vehicle stolen while owner was in store early Tuesday

COVINGTON, Ga. – Police are looking for whoever stole a car from outside an Alcovy Road gas station while the owner was inside the store early Tuesday morning.

According to a Covington Police Department incident report, the victim said he was taking a break at work when he went to the Shell station located at 10125 Alcovy Road just past 2:30 a.m. Aug. 7 to get some orange juice.

The victim reportedly told police he left his car running while he ran into the store for two minutes to get his drink. When he came out, his 2006 burgundy Hyundai Sonata was gone. After checking around the store, he called police.

According to the report, the Hyundai contained two iPhones, the victim’s wallet and some clothing. The victim reportedly tracked one of the phones in the car going westbound on Interstate 20. It was last tracked on Fair Street in southwest Atlanta.
