COVINGTON, Ga. - A Covington man returned home April 22 after a couple of days away to find that his home had been burglarized and his property stolen.

According to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) report, a deputy responded Saturday morning to an apartment on Greenleaf Road where he met with the victim, who reportedly told the deputy that he left home early in the morning April 19 and returned home to find his door unlocked.

According to the report, when he opened the door, he found his mail in the floor and his 50” television missing. He also reportedly told the deputy that a file cabinet containing tax and bank information had been gone through and a ring, chain and watch were taken from the bedroom.

According to the report, a rock used to break the back door window was found on the living room floor.
