COVINGTON, Ga. – A Covington teen was arrested Thursday on multiple charges, including felony aggravated assault after intentionally ramming a Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) vehicle while trying to get away from deputies.
According to the NCSO incident report, deputies responded to Wexford Way and Eagles Parkway in the early morning hours April 27 on reports of two males in dark clothing going through vehicles. According to the report, as the first deputy arrived at the scene, he observed the suspects turning onto Eagles Parkway in a Dodge Journey.
One subject reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot. According to the report, the other subject, a 17-year-old, stayed in the vehicle, attempted to elude deputies and made intentional contact with a NCSO patrol car. That subject was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property, entering auto, fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer and possession of tool-commission of a crime.
According to the report, the teen and his accomplice are suspected of breaking into six vehicles. The vehicle they were in was reported stolen in DeKalb County on April 18.
