Student comments cause concern at Eastside
Eastside

COVINGTON, Ga. – The Covington News has confirmed that school administrators were notified that a student made comments that caused concern at Eastside High School Friday.

According to a statement from Newton County Schools’ spokesperson Sherri Davis, law enforcement was notified “out of an abundance of caution.”

Davis said the school is also investigating the matter.

Parents were advised of the situation by a school messenger call from Principal Jeff Cher. Davis said the school day is proceeding on its normal schedule.

A 15-year-old student was charged earlier this month after making threats to “shoot up” the school.
