COVINGTON, Ga. — A man tried to grab a child from a playground during the weekend, and police are asking for the public’s help to find him.

Covington police said a white man wearing a mask and gloves tried to take an 8-year-old girl from the playground at Wellington Ridge Apartments.

It happened at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the northeast corner of the apartment complex.

The girl was able to escape the man and run away to get help. The man ran into the woods, and police want to hear from anyone who might have trail cameras in the woods surrounding the apartment complex on Wellington Drive.
