Off duty officer injured in motorcycle accident

COVINGTON, Ga. – An off duty police officer was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center Monday afternoon after his motorcycle was hit by a car.

According to a Covington Police Department (CPD) officer at the scene, the motorcycle was traveling north on Emory Street at around 4 p.m. when it was struck by the car pulling off of Stallings Street.

According to EMS personnel, the victim was being transported with what were described at the time as non-life threatening injuries. CPD did not release the off duty officer’s name nor the department he works for. They did say he is not a CPD officer. 

The name of the other driver and any citations or charges was also not released at the time.
