COVINGTON, Ga. - Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff's Office and Newton County Coroner's Office are looking into a reported murder on Brookwood Drive. 

Coroner Tommy Davis confirmed his office started a death investigation Monday evening alongside NCSO. The victim has been identified as Wintez Moody, 22. Davis said the cause and manner of death could not be released due to pending autopsy results. 

"Deputies were summoned to a burglary in progress around 9:06 p.m.," NCSO Deputy Latavia Washington said. "The victim reported someone kicked in the door and he heard footsteps."

Washington said deputies found a deceased male when they arrived on scene. 

There are currently no suspects in the case, she said.
