Newton County Sheriff's Office

COVINGTON, Ga. – Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office found a toddler wandering around a neighborhood last week after responding to a report of the missing child.

According to a NCSO incident report, deputies were dispatched to the home on Eleanor Drive just past 9:30 a.m. May 16 on a report of a missing person. When Deputy Moedjirah Vandelisle arrived at the scene, she made contact with the child’s mother who reportedly said “her 2-year-old son was missing this morning.”

A NCSO spokesperson told The Covington News the child wandered out of the front door of the house and was later found unharmed by deputies searching the area. The spokesperson said DFACS was notified of the incident.
