Covington man tased twice, arrested

COVINGTON, Ga. - The Newton County Sheriff's Office denied an open records request from The Covington News for the body camera footage from officers involved in the recent assault allegations at District 4 Commissioner J.C. Henderson's house. 

The News filed the request with the sheriff's office April 25 requesting video footage and/or photographs of the incident. NCSO called Friday, April 27 to say the request could not be fulfilled because it involved an ongoing investigation. A letter, dated April 27, was received by The News Monday stating the same.

According to the original incident report, taken April 19, the case was turned over to the criminal investigations division April 20.
