Assault reported at commissioner's house

COVINGTON, Ga. – A deputy from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Puckett Street late Thursday evening on a report of an assault, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

According to the report, when the deputy arrived at the home, he spoke with the victim, identified in the report as Jessie Cordavious Henderson and the complainant, identified as J.C. Henderson.

“After talking with both subjects no one could give me the full name of the subject that had assaulted the victim,” the deputy reported.

The incident reportedly occurred between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

According to the report, the deputy advised both subjects that a report would be done and turned over to CID.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson told The Covington News there is a suspect in the incident and the case is under investigation to learn the suspect’s full identity.
