COVINGTON, Ga. – A Covington man returned from an out-of-town weekend trip to find his air conditioner had been stolen while he was away.

According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) report, the victim contacted NCSO Monday morning to report the unit missing. He told deputies that he was out of town from Aug. 18 through Monday and when he returned to his Creek Way home, he noticed his air conditioning was not working.

According to the report, he checked the inside controls and breakers, but it did not come on. He told NCSO he went outside to check the unit and discovered that the air conditioner had been cut from the house and taken.

NCSO said the theft was not witnessed.
