COVINGTON, Ga. – The Covington Police Department (CPD) arrested a man Monday morning after he reportedly took a walk while not wearing any clothes.
According to the CPD incident report, officers responded to Highway 278 in front of Car Mart on the report of a naked man walking down the street. After he was placed in the back of the patrol car, the man, identified as Drew Johnson, 25, was asked why he was walking in public without any clothes. Johnson reportedly stated that he wanted to go to Heaven.
According to the report, police located a black bag of shirts in front of Chick-fil-a, a shirt in front of Papa John’s and a pair of tennis shoes in front of QT.
Johnson reportedly did not appear to be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, nor did he appear to be in any medical or mental distress, according to the report.
He was arrested for indecent exposure and transported to the Newton County Law Enforcement Center. According to the jail’s inmate information website, Johnson has a Norcross address. The website indicates that in addition to the indecent exposure charge, he also has a probation violation for fingerprintable charge.
