The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) responded to a report of illegal dumping in Covington Sunday.

According to the NCSO report, the responding deputy observed 10 to 15 55-gallon trash bags piled up behind a Waterford Road residence. The owner of the residence where the dumping occurred told the deputy that he had gone through the trash and located its owner’s name and address.

According to the report, the deputy made contact with the person whose name and address was found in the trash. She reportedly denied any knowledge of the illegal dumping, but said that it would be cleaned up.

She was advised that if the trash was not removed by Monday, March 27, Code Enforcement would be notified.
