COVINGTON, Ga. - Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) are looking for the person or persons responsible for breaking into an apartment and stealing a gun.

According to a NCSO incident report, a deputy responded to an address on Kirkland Road May 15. When he got to the scene, the deputy met with the occupant who said when her nephew returned home around 12:50 p.m., he found that the dead bolt had been pried and the door opened.

When the occupant arrived home, she discovered several items had been taken, including a Taurus .38 caliber revolver.

There are no known suspects.
