Covington woman jailed Friday after allegedly stabbing two

COVINGTON, Ga. – Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old Covington woman on aggravated assault charges Friday afternoon after she allegedly stabbed two people with a pair of scissors.

According to an NCSO incident report, Keambre Dumas was taken into custody at her Cedar Ridge Drive home June 8 after deputies responded to a report of a stabbing on Stone Street.

Dumas is accused of stabbing the victims during a physical altercation. She also reportedly took a cellphone belonging to one of the victims that fell to the ground during the altercation. Deputies recovered the cellphone when Dumas was arrested.

Dumas was transported to the Newton County Jail charged with two counts of aggravated assault and felony theft by taking. An NCSO spokesperson said both victims were treated by EMS and released at the scene.

The spokesperson said deputies have recovered the scissors used in the incident.
