Conyers Police to host self-defense training
Conyers Police

CONYERS, Ga. - The Conyers Police Department has scheduled two self-defense training classes for women. The classes will take place on Nov. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The classes will be held at the Conyers Police Department, 1194 Scott St., and will focus on topics of situational awareness, being aware of the environment and techniques that can be used to defend against assaults.

CPD understands that the fear of an attack by any assailant, whether that person is known to the victim or a stranger, is real. Being prepared to avoid an attack and knowing how to respond if an attack does occur is the first step in controlling that fear. The training for this class will be presented by Sgt. Jay Archer who is responsible for training Conyers Police Officers for potentially dangerous encounters. In addition to being the department’s training coordinator, Sgt. Archer is certified to teach defensive tactics for law enforcement and firearms training for deadly force encounters.

This training is designed for women and is taught at a basic level, everyone is able to participate. The class is open to all and there is no cost to attend. If you plan on taking part in this educational opportunity please register by sending an email to Jay.Archer@conyersga.gov .
