COVINGTON, Ga. - A laptop computer and cellphone were reportedly stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Industrial Park Boulevard April 18.
According to a Covington Police Department (CPD) report, the vehicle’s owner told police he parked in the front parking space near the contractor’s entrance Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. and went into the store.
The owner reportedly told police he was in the store for approximately five minutes and when he came out, he discovered that his laptop computer was in the front seat under the armrest and his cell phone were missing.
According to the report, the victim was unsure how the perpetrators entered the vehicle because he had locked it when he entered the store. The responding CPD officer was able to locate a puncture hole under the door handle which reportedly enabled the thief to manipulate the lock without a key.
