COVINGTON, Ga. – A woman told authorities her child was bitten by a dog Sunday afternoon.
According to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a deputy responded to Fieldview Lane March 17 on a report that a child had been bitten by a dog. The child’s mother reportedly said that they heard the child screaming and when they went outside, a grey Pitbull had the child by the leg.
According to the report, a neighbor got his pistol and hollered at the dog. The neighbor reportedly shot the dog when it charged him.
The child was taken to a local hospital by her father. The woman and the neighbor told the deputy that they had never seen the dog before and they did not know who it belonged to.
