Cars broken into at Washington Street car lot

COVINGTON, Ga. – The Covington Police Department is looking for whoever broke into six vehicles at a Washington Street used car lot earlier this week.

According to the CPD incident report, police responded to All Star Auto Sales Tuesday morning on a report of five vehicles being broken into while the business was closed.

The complainant reported that all of the vehicles on the lot were locked when he left at approximately 7 p.m. Oct. 23. When he returned shortly before 10:30 Oct. 24, he noticed one of the vehicles had the passenger window busted out.

When he checked other the other vehicles on the lot, he noticed that four other had been broken into and one had been moved. One other damaged vehicle was discovered later.

According to the report, all of the vehicles broken into also had indications that attempts were made to break into the steering columns.

The damaged vehicles include a 1990 Dodge B250 Ram Van, 1999 Chevrolet G1500 Express van, 2002 Ford F-150 4x4, 2002 GMC Sierra 1500, 1997 Toyota Camry and a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro.
