COVINGTON, Ga. – Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a report of sexual battery at Eastside High School.
According to a NCSO incident report, a school resource officer was advised by an administrator Sept. 28 that a student was assaulted by another student at the school.
A NCSO spokesperson told The Covington News the victim made an outcry to a school official that she was being touched inappropriately in class. The victim reportedly alleges multiple instances.
The victim is 14 years old and the suspect is 15 years old.
The spokesperson said the case is being investigated by the sheriff’s office’s CID and that no arrest has been made.
”We are aware of the allegation and an investigation is being conducted," Newton County School System Director of Public Relations Sherri Davis said in a statement to The News. "In addition to possible criminal charges, the student in question is subject to disciplinary action for violation of the student code of conduct.”
