18-year-old injured in drive-by shooting

COVINGTON, Ga. — An 18-year-old was injured on Saturday night, Dec. 7, after a drive-by shooting in Covington.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., Covington police officers responded to a call in reference to a person shot in the area of Puckett Street, according to the CPD press release. The victim, Amajaye Farley of Covington, was transported to Piedmont Newton prior to the officers' arrival.

Witnesses of the incident heard several gunshots in the area but did not see what happened, according to the release. The release also stated the witnesses noticed a black or brown Honda leave the scene, but it has not been determined whether or not the car was involved in the incident.

Farley was transported to Atlanta Medical Center from Piedmont Newton for further treatment, according to the release. He was alert and could speak after his transfer.

The CPD Criminal Investigative Division is working on a lead to identify a suspect, according to the release.
