Officers from the Covington Police Department arrested a 35-year-old woman for prostitution in the Happy Hollow area following stepped up patrol in the area.

Patrol has been increased in the area following several complaints of prostitution and drug activity from concerned residents. Officers were working foot patrol on Lunsford Circle and they reportedly noticed a blue Ford F-150 drive slowly into the Happy Hollow area and then, several minutes later, drive out of the area.

Officers allegedly noticed the truck was driven by a black male and had no other occupants. They also reportedly noticed that when the driver approached the intersection of Lunsford Circle and South Emory Street, a woman standing in the road on Lunsford allegedly called out to the driver, yelling "Hey!"

The driver stopped his vehicle and the woman, later identified as 35-year-old Lushonda Lindsey, reportedly said "What you looking for?" to which the driver allegedly replied, "I don’t know; why?"

Lindsey reportedly asked the man "How far you wanna’ go?" The driver then allegedly requested the price that Lindsey would charge him for oral sex and Lindsey reportedly told the driver she would perform this act for $20.

The driver allegedly said, "I don’t know if I got $20," and Lindsey reportedly said, "Meet me up the street," but according to reports, there was no further contact between the driver or Lindsey and they were unable to identify the man in the truck.

Officers approached Lindsey on Ivy Street and asked her how long she had been working as a prostitute. She reportedly told them, "awhile now," and that she had moved to Covington from New Jersey to live with family. She also allegedly told officers, "I can only do so much in a truck for $20," implying, according to reports, that she performs oral sex for money. She also reportedly told the officer, "some girls charge more, I don’t." She also allegedly admitted to having a drug habit, specifically crack cocaine.

Lindsey was arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center where she was charged with prostitution.
