Update, 12:05 p.m.: Interstate 20 near exit 90 is still being cleaned, as sheet glass being carried by a tractor apparently came lose and shattered on the highway, according to Lt. Al Miller with the Covington Police Department.
Miller said the cleanup process would last for another 20-25 minutes or so.
There were no accidents with other vehicles, but two vehicles did suffer damage to their tires from the glass.
Original story: All but one westbound lane on Interstate 20 are blocked off right at exit 90 in Covington, according to the Covington-Newton County 911 Center.
A reporter passing by the scene said people traveling westbound were being directed to take exit 90 to avoid the accident, which involved a tractor trailer.
"If you are approaching this area you may want to exit at either Hwy 142 (Walmart Exit) or Alcovy Road. DOT is on the way to assist with cleanup," according to 911's Facebook page. "The debris is a load of glass that came off a truck."
According to 911's Facebook page, "You will be able to exit at the 90 westbound (exit) and re-enter at Almond. If you get off before then you will avoid sitting in traffic."
