Volunteers to landscape homeless shelter

Volunteers with Kohl's in Conyers, led by local resident Donna Sneed, are hoping to beautify the Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter on Turner Lake Circle on April 26.
Sneed hopes to erect a sign at the street entrance to the shelter and landscape and plant flowers around the sign, in addition to putting potted flowers at the entrance to each of the shelter's buildings and planters along the side of some of the buildings. She also hopes to get the shelter's playground equipment repaired.
While Kohl's volunteers will be providing the labor, Sneed said she is looking for donations of money or pine bark, flowers, planting dirt, pots and planters. To donate or volunteer call Sneed at (770) 241-6939, email her at donna@sneedlaw.net or send any mail to P.O. Box 1952, Covington, GA 30015.
"Even though the shelter only provides temporary housing, we still want residents to live in a beautiful place," Sneed said.
Local resident Perry Fields is expected to make a sign for the homeless shelter, while local Boy Scouts may make the posts and help install the sign.
