T.K. Adams led the Newton County Community Band in his final concert Monday night.

Adams, who founded the band in 1993, recently announced his retirement, and held the conductor’s baton in a concert for the final time at Eastside High School. He will lead the band just once more, during Covington’s Fourth of July celebration.

The song “Bon Voyage” fittingly opened the concert, marking the final chance for Newton residents to enjoy his music in a concert setting.

Eastside High School band director Alan Fowler will take over as community band director.
