Covington's Rotary Club has new officers.

They are Brook Collins, president; Bob Stafford, vice president; Janet Brewer, secretary; Paul Courchaine, treasurer; Wayne Pugh, president-elect; and Carter Rogers and Brad Bettis, directors at-large.

The new directors include Pat Cavanaugh, club administrative director; Ric Burnette, membership director; Stacey Cotton, service director; Joe Davidson, club public relations director; and Patrick Carmichael, Rotary Foundation director.

The new members were sworn into their positions by Hugh Steele, past president and honorary member.

"I have two main goals: increasing membership and involvement," Collins said. "I want us to have more functions and socials, because that leads to more members."

Also at the meeting, Janet Brewer was given the Rotarian of the Year award for her eagerness to learn about and serve the club, and other members were recognized for their successes, such as perfect attendance.

The next meeting will be held July 12, as the club is taking July 5 off to accommodate July 4 festivities.
