Peggy Greer, a Mansfield resident, is teaming up with other county residents including Freddie Neely to organize informational meetings at Starrsville United Methodist Church. The group is having their second meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the church, 2786 Dixie Road. Greer said about 20 people attended the first meeting.

The group is trying to get the word out about the railroad negotiations to as many county residents as possible, because not everyone reads the newspaper or has time to attend public meetings. Greer said the group is passing around a petition in initial opposition to the purchase and the members are planning on attending Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting.

The group is concerned about up front cost, future cost and county legal liability and wants more questions to be answered and they are organizing as many people as they can to show the county that a lot of people are concerned.
