Former Covington councilman John Howard was reappointed Thursday to serve as chairman of the recently formed Covington Municipal Airport Authority.

Howard was serving as temporary chairman during the authority's first month in existence, but he and all the other temporary officers were reappointed to serve full terms. Wayne Digby is vice chairman and Tereta Johnson is the treasurer and secretary.

In related news, Standridge Color Corporation is moving forward with plans to build a second hangar at the airport after signing a finalized lease for land with the authority. Standridge will build the tarmac and the hangar.

Howard said a second company is also considering building a hangar on the 5-acre tract the authority owns. The city deeded that land to the authority previously.

The airport authority meets every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Covington Municipal Airport, 15200 Airport Road, Oxford.
