Four Covington Firefighters received a standing ovation Monday night after recognition of their lifesaving work.

Covington City Manager Leigh Anne Knight recognized Covington Fire Department employees: Captain James Cox, Lieutenant Tim Martin, FAO Clay Boggs and Firefighter Daniel Spell.

“The four guys were out on a call last Saturday night – it was probably 11:30-ish, I think was when the call came in – we had some down power lines and they rolled out to make sure that there was nothing going on that needed their assistance,” Knight said. “In the course of the evening, one of our employees was actually in an accident that could have been tragically worse.

“Fortunately he only has some burns and due to the lifesaving efforts of these guys, he was air-flighted, he was electrocuted, but because of their quick work and their good work he is with us today and we are very thankful for them.”

The injured employee is a member of the Covington Electric Department.
