A Covington man was admitted to the hospital after he told a nurse at the Rockdale Medical Center he was shot near Kirkland Road on Tuesday.

A deputy with the NCSO responded to the Rockdale Medical Center on Milstead Drive in Conyers on Tuesday night just before 11 p.m. in reference to a man being shot in the back. The deputy spoke with a nurse who said the hospital admitted a man after he said he was shot in Kirkland Road area.

NCSO Lt. Tyrone Oliver said deputies are investigating the case, but they haven't determined the exact area of where the shooting happened.

"Right now we don't have a location of where it even happened at. Our investigators are still working to obtain a statement from him," Oliver said. "We went out and investigated the scene to find an area, but we didn't find any evidence of (the shooting)."
