Council considers change in meeting time
Covington City Hall - WEB

The Covington City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance change to change the meeting times for the council’s regularly scheduled work sessions and meetings.

Currently, the council meets on the first and third Monday of each month – unless it is a holiday – at 5:30 p.m. for a work session. The council’s meeting is then scheduled to start at 6 p.m., or whenever the work session ends if it runs longer than 30 minutes.

The ordinance change would take the meeting times out of the ordinance completely. If approved in a second reading, which is set for the council’s next meeting Feb. 20, the council will also approve a resolution setting the new meeting times.

The council is considering keeping the work session at 5:30 p.m., but moving the meeting time to 6:30 to allow for more time in the work session.

The time change would not go into effect until the March meetings if the second reading is approved at the next meeting.
