Thursday, Dec. 3

Classic Candlelight Christmas

Carriage rides, candlelight shopping and carolers on the Covington Square beginning at 5 p.m., going until 10 p.m.

Candlelight Christmas Tour


Satsuki Garden Club hosts its 17th Candlelight Christmas Tour of homes, featuring eight properties circa 1840-1950. The tour runs from 3-7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased from any Satsuki Garden Club member or at Spires Interiors on the Square.


Friday, Dec. 4

Festival of Trees

A Darth Vadar tree, wreaths and gift cards are being display for Newton County’s Festival of Trees this year. The trees are set up in Ramsey’s Furniture Store on Clark Street, and can be viewed for one last week.

The display is opened against Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3 and 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Saturday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bidding closes at 2 p.m.

Large trees are silent auction and another 50 plus items, including wreaths, gift baskets and gift certificates. Ticket prices vary from $15 to $450. Smaller trees and gifts cars will be raffled off for $2 and $5 tickets.

All proceeds will be used to build a sidewalk around the foundation at Chimney Park, making it handicapped accessible.

Christmas in Covington

The growth of one of Covington’s largest annual Christmas concert was too much for Covington First United Methodist Church, so the Christmas in Covington performance will be in a new location this year.

Christmas in Covington will be held at the Porter Memorial Auditorium Dec. 4-6. The performance will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.

Christmas on the Square

The Square will be a Winter Wonderland during this event, lasting from 6-9 p.m. Visitors can visit with Santa and send letters to the North Pole resident, ride on trackless train and a bucket truck, enjoy inflatable bounce houses, hear stories from Ms. Lee Aldridge at 7:30 p.m. and shop late.

Porterdale’s Christmas Parade

The village of Porterdale celebrates Christmas Dec. 4 with its annual parade, starting at 7 p.m. Santa and his team of reindeer bring the Christmas spirit to Main Street Porterdale. There will also be music, dining, specialty vending and the lighting of the Porterdale Star and Christmas Tree.

Children will also have a chance to visit with Santa and his reindeer at The Depot, and enjoy seasonal music.


Saturday, Dec. 5

Covington Lions Club Parade

The 2015 Lions Christmas Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Dec. 5. Start time is 10 a.m. at Legion Field.

 

Sunday, Dec. 6

Twilights at Chimney Park

Enjoy entertainment, refreshments and lights in the park from 5-7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person, with children under 2-years-old free. Chimney Park is located behind the public health building on 8201 Hazelbrand Road. All proceeds go toward the continue development of the park. Chimney Park is an all-access grassroots developed park.
