Covington Pediatrics has a new physician, Annalise Cawley, at the clinic, known for its primary care practices and experienced staff members.

Born and raised in New York, Cawley graduated from Ohio State University with an M.D. She later went on to be a pediatric intern at Stony Brook Medical University. Cawley is a board-certified M.D. with a FAAP designation.

She previously practiced pediatric medicine at AGC Pediatric Clinic in Calhoun, before coming to Covington Pediatrics to be closer to her family. Over the years, she grew accustomed to the South’s signature hospitality.

"I really love it here," said Cawley. "It offers such a laid-back lifestyle. It gives me a chance to stop and smell the roses."

Cawley hopes she will be able to develop relationships with her patients to provide education and personal care for them. She looks forward to the opportunity to help families as a whole, starting with one child to a family of children.

While Covington Pediatrics has been a Newton County establishment for many years, the current owner, Dr. Juliana Nahas, purchased the practice in 1999. Since then, Covington Pediatrics has become known for its primary care. Nahas also specializes in the treatment of ADD and ADHD. The practice accepts all Medicaid and most health insurance companies.

The practice boasts 15 employees, including two physicians and two certified nursing practitioners. The doctors, who are affiliated with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, are also on the medical staff at Newton Medical Center, allowing them to admit patients from Covington Pediatric and treat them at the hospital.

"We have a very low staff turnovers, so every time families come in they will see the same staff members," said office manager Pamela Miller. "We’re very stable. We have some staff that have been with us for over 12 years. This gives the patients ease to keep coming back."
