Airport shows off communitys industry

When visitors arrive in Covington by plane they’re greeted by the community’s industrial prowess.

A display case recently placed at the Covington Municipal Airport contains products made entirely or in part by Newton County’s largest manufacturers.

The case includes golf balls from Bridgestone, Swiffer dusters from FiberVisions, twine from Beaver Manufacturing, glass perfume bottles from SGD Glass, foam takeout trays, plates and bowls from Pactiv, stretch film from Berry Plastics, Sevin Dust insecticide from Contract Packaging, Cheerios and Fiber One bars from General Mills and examples of powder coating applications from Valspar.

Local business Antiques & Stuff, owned by Matt Crowe, donated the display case. Shannon Davis, existing industry retention and expansion officer for the local chamber, gathered together all of the local products.
