MADISON, Ga. (AP) — Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has announced a floor covering manufacturer is planning to expand its plant in Morgan County and create more than 200 new jobs.

Deal announced Thursday that Mannington Mills is planning to create 219 new jobs as it expands its Plant in Madison — about 30 miles south of Athens. Deal says the company is planning to invest $50 million in the expansion.

The company manufactures vinyl, rubber and porcelain tile, hardwood, laminate, carpet and more.

Officials say the company is essentially doubling the size of its facility and expects to quadruple its manufacturing capacity. The company expects to break ground by the end of the year.

The company plans to fill new positions by January 2015.
