On Friday night, the sounds of smooth soulful classic southern rock echoed across Legion Field as Tribute: The Allman Brothers Band took the stage for the latest installment of the 2025 Summer Concert Series.
Presented through a longstanding partnership between the City of Covington and The Arts Association of Newton County, the event drew thousands of music fans from Newton County and beyond for an evening of unforgettable performances, community connection and summer fun.
Tribute delivered a faithful and recreation of The Allman Brothers Band’s greatest hits, captivating the audience with soulful ballads, blistering guitar solos, and tight harmonies. August has become the series "Roots" theme.
This year, Covington welcomed Bill Taylor of Covington, who plays Bass for the band. Attendees spread blankets, set up chairs, supported local restaurant food trucks, and enjoyed a pleasant August evening while growing to legendary classics.
“This partnership with the Arts Association continues to be one of the most powerful and impactful collaborations in our community,” said Ken Malcom, director of Tourism and Downtown Development and public information officer for the City of Covington. “Legion Field is the perfect venue for bringing people together, and Tribute gave us another great night to remember.”
The Summer Concert Series has become a beloved tradition in Covington, celebrating live music while supporting the city’s vibrant cultural scene. Each show draws both residents and visitors, benefitting local businesses and reinforcing Covington’s reputation as a regional hub for arts and entertainment.
Up next, the series will host one of the biggest shows of the year — A1A, the popular tribute band to Jimmy Buffett — kicking off Covington’s Fuzz Run Weekend. The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 12th at Legion Field.
