Nada Street McDowell

Nada Street McDowell, 81, of Monticello, died peacefully at her home June 6. The daughter of the late Arthur M. and Edith M. Williams Street, she was born in Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. McDowell was a graduate of Georgia College for women in Milledgeville and taught English and literature in Newton County schools for 17 years. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's furniture business in Conyers for 12 years and was a member of First Baptist Church, Covington. Mrs. McDowell was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She is preceded in death by husband Bill McDowell, two ifants, daughter Leslie McDowell and brother Thomas J. Street.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Larry Sr. and Peggy McDowell of Monticello; grandchildren Larry W. McDowell Jr. of Conyers, Allison McDowell of Covington, Jennifer Hayes of Monticello; a number of great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law James P. and Gay Nash of Covington, Regina Street of St. Petersburg, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 8, in the Access Road Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Conyers.
