Melvin (Sak) Daniel died Aug. 13. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Bittie) Daniel, he was born in 1950. He was a graduate of R.L. Cousins High School and accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rocks Spring Baptist Church. Mr. Daniel served in the United States Air Force. He was a fun-loving man who loved gardening, hunting and his family. He was preceded in death by sister Ms. Nina Daniel and granddaughter Alicia.

Surviving are wife Mrs. Alice Woods Daniel; stepdaughter Mr. and Mrs. Darryl (Sandra) Brown; stepson Mr. and Mrs. Allilus (Miranda) Driskell; grandchildren Demesha, Damario, Sieara, Dearra, Alisha, Emari, Zion, Jaelin; sisters Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Rebecca) Lawrence Jr., Covington, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Jennie) Hatcher, Cincinnati, Ohio, Ms. Patricia Hamm, Atlanta, Ms. Selena Johnson, Oxford, Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Amy) Parker, Carrolton, Mr. and Mrs. DeForest (Sylvia) Senson, Stone Mountain; brothers Mr. Carl Daniel, Mr. Eugene Daniel, both of Covington; aunts Mrs. Mildred Smith, Mrs. Musizet Patrick, both of Atlanta; sisters-in-law Ms. Evelyn Jefferies, Ms. Tiny Mae Woods, Ms. Rebecca Woods; brothers-in-law Mr. Jerry Woods, Mr. Tommy Woods, Mr. Eddie Woods, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Woods, all of Covington; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Mansfield, with the Rev. Eddie Glover officiating.
