A Newton County man was discovered dead in his home late Sunday evening, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

The mother of the 28-year-old black male victim came home around 11:30 p.m. to find her son's body inside the Benedict Place subdivision residence.

The case is being investigated as a homicide by the Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. No arrests have been made, according to NCSO spokesperson Investigator Sharron Stewart.

This is the fifth homicide in Newton County for 2008, compared to 10 homicides for all of 2007.
