Social Circle swimmers qualify for state
social-circle

The Social Circle High School swim team girls' relay qualified for two events at the GHSA State Meet, which took place last weekend, February 6th & 7th at Georgia Tech. The girls, who made the state qualifying time last month in the 200 freestyle relay, worked hard towards getting the coveted time in the 200 medley relay as well. They successfully achieved that goal at a meet in Gainesville, swimming a combined 1.6 seconds under their goal time. In the medley relay, Tiffany Masden, a senior, swam backstroke, Emma Smith, freshman, did the breaststroke, Makenna Gray, senior, swam the butterfly and her younger sister Marlee Gray, also a freshman, swam the freestyle anchor leg. All four were also together in the same order for the freestyle relay. This is a huge accomplishment for the SCHS swim team who has recently gone through a few years of rebuilding since losing eight senior swimmers in 2012. Alternates for the relays were Gracie Smith, Chandler Smith, Cathryn Cohenhour, Christina Craig and Hannah Scott. They represented their school well and gave it their all during the competition.
