Skins go to Disney

Most kids like to go to Disney World for the rides at the Magic Kingdom during the summer holiday, but the Social Circle High School Wrestling team went for a different ride. The ride the Redskins were on led them to the Championship of the AAU Scholastic Duals at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando. The event better known as the Disney Duals, hosts over 120 teams from all over the country. There are 4 (32) team divisions and SCHS dominated their division going undefeated.

In the final bracket, SCHS went on to have seven victories. 60-4 vs. Team Monster (FL), 60-3 Southern Slam (FL), 72-3 Croatan (FL), 66-8 FMWC Tsunami (FL), 70-3 Oregon Clay (OH), 72-0 Sand Creek (MI), and 66-6 Orange City (FL).

The Redskins took over 20 kids from Social Circle and two out of school wrestlers (Dawson Bates from Jefferson and Dalton Sikes from Oconee). The starting lineup consisted of 106 Kyle Morris (9-1), 113 Dawson Bates (10-0) and alternate Dalton Wheeler, 120 Levi Leach (9-1) , 126 Travis Tyson (8-2), 132 James Corsanitti (10-0), 138 Mitchell Clegg (8-2) and alternate Michael Thompson, 145 Reid Harris (10-0), 152 Cade Lackey (9-1) and alternate Trey Paschal, 160 Cameron Paschal (9-1), 170 Khamari Whimper, 182 Aaron Forrester (9-0), 195 David Engstrom (10-0), 220 Ryan Harris (9-1), and 285 Dalton Sikes (6-4).

Head Coach Randy Prater said, “It was a great tournament for us. I had a great time watching the kids perform especially since I wasn’t coaching.”

Coach Robert Cline coached the SCHS team at the Disney Duals. Cline has been to the Disney Duals eight times (six with Loganville and two with Social Circle) winning his first championship.

Prater also commented, “I can’t say enough about what coach Cline has brought to our program. He runs our youth program and also gives our middle or high school wrestler the extra attention needed for them to reach their goals.”

The Redskin team had six wresters go undefeated at the event (Bates 113, Corsanitti 132, Reid Harris 145, Whimper 170, Forrester 182 and David Engstrom 195) with Aaron Forrester (182) receiving the “Outstanding Wrestler Award.” So if your kids want to go to Disney all they have to do is become a Redskin.
