SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — On Feb. 22 around 11 a.m., the Social Circle athletic department announced the implementation of a volleyball program beginning in the fall.

According to the athletic department’s website, this has been a long time coming.

“The start of the program comes after years of receiving numerous amounts of feedback from our student population and community inquiring and requesting the addition of volleyball,” an athletic department spokesperson stated.

In addition to the program coming to Social Circle, the school also announced Josh Paul as the new head coach.

Paul was approved to lead the program during a February board of education meeting.

Social Circle is excited to see Paul take the reins of this new program.

“Coach Paul comes to Social Circle with a wealth of volleyball coaching experience and an extensive background in program development,” an athletic department spokesperson stated.

Closing out the announcement were the future plans to get the program up and started.

The athletic department plans to host an interest meeting on April 13.

Tryout dates, a summer practice schedule and the complete fall season outline will be discussed during the meeting.

Female students who are rising 8th-12th graders for the 2022-23 are encouraged to attend, but, the website stressed, that all are welcome to attend, too.

Tryouts will be from May 2-5 in the high school gymnasium.
